Methodology
How we test.
If a tool is on Seller Tools Hub, someone here used it on a real catalog — not a demo reel. Reviews take weeks, not a lunch break.
What we test
Software for people who sell online. Primarily Amazon FBA, then Walmart, TikTok Shop, Shopify dropshipping, ad spies, and print-on-demand. Product research, keywords, PPC, inventory, P&L, sourcing, Chrome overlays.
We do not review tools we have not opened. We do not stitch three other blogs into a “2026 roundup” and hit publish.
The process
01
Open a real account
Paid or trial, on a real seller account — not a vendor sandbox. If we cannot log in as a seller, we do not publish a review.
02
Run the job the tool sells
Product validation in research tools. Reverse-ASIN and listing indexation in keyword tools. Rules, dayparting, and search-term harvest in PPC. Inbound planning in inventory. We do not score a suite on the dashboard screenshot.
03
Cross-check the numbers
Xray and opportunity scores get a Keepa chart. PPC suggestions get a live campaign. Profit modules get Sellerboard. If the tool is optimistic on new ASINs or tiny subcats, that goes in Data accuracy — not in a buried footnote.
04
Track friction
Signup, billing surprises, Chrome vs cloud, support hours, whether chat knows FBA. The extension is often the product. The web app is often a filing cabinet. We say which.
05
Write who should skip it
Every review answers who it is for, who should skip, what it does that rivals do not, and whether the price is sane. A coupon never turns a skip into a buy.
How we score
We do not use a fake 9.7/10. That number is how directories get gamed. We score the jobs Amazon sellers actually hire a tool for — currently 14 parameters on a full review like Helium 10 — and we show the average plus the bars.
- Product research
- Keywords & reverse ASIN
- Listing SEO
- PPC / ads
- AI
- Inventory & ops
- Profit / P&L
- Data accuracy
- Walmart + TikTok Shop
- Training
- Ease of use
- Value for money
- Support
- Chrome extension / UI
Roundups use “best for” tags (first product, keyword OS, Keepa-only, high-volume PPC), not a single leaderboard. A tool that is a 4.9 on reverse-ASIN can still be a skip if you only needed a P&L.
What we don’t do
- Pay-to-play. Vendors cannot buy a higher bar. They can pay affiliate commissions — that is disclosed on /disclosure. Commission rate is not a scoring input.
- Sponsored reviews dressed as editorial. If a tool ever paid to be featured, it would say sponsored before the verdict.
- Sandbox reviews. Thirty minutes in a marketing demo is not a thirty-day review.
Updates
We retouch a review when the product, the price, or the rival set changes — or when a reader flags something we got wrong — and at least when a page is more than a year old. Every thick review shows an updated date. Email mistakes to [email protected].
